HUMBOLDT – Cody Schachtner, 18, of Humboldt, passed away August 17, 2013. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt with the Rev. J.K. Raether officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the church. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt is in charge of arrangements.
Cody is survived by his mother, Trisha Schachtner of Humboldt; his father, Allan Schachtner of Livermore; sisters, Sydney Schachtner and Shaylee Schachtner; step brother, Kyle Egdorf; grandparents, Merv and Pat Johnson of Humboldt and Gerald and Helen Schachtner of Humboldt; aunts and uncles, Dan Johnson of Humboldt, Teri (John) Dunphy of Humboldt, Cheri (Randy) Zimmerman of Humboldt, Matthew (Kendra) Johnson of Algona, Pauline Schachtner of Miller, Mike Schachtner of Humboldt, Brenda (P. Jay) Rivard of Somerset, WI, and Grace (Dan) Scholl of Humboldt; and his 22 cousins. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Mark Schachtner.
Cody Schachtner, the son of Allan and Trisha (Johnson) Schachtner, was born March 13, 1995 at Humboldt, Iowa and was baptized at the Zion Lutheran Church on April 15, 1995. Cody began his education at St Edmond’s Elementary School in Fort Dodge until the fifth grade when he moved with his mother to Humboldt. Cody graduated from Humboldt High School with the class of 2013 where he participated in football and weight lifting. He liked music, playing video games and was a good artist. He loved his cat, Boots, his dog, Tyra, and he loved sleeping in. He worked for a summer at Savannah Construction and enjoyed helping his grandfather at M S and Sons.
Cody loved the time he spent with his friends and the trip they took to Florida this spring and was looking forward to starting his freshman year with them at Iowa State University this week.
