JANNA E. ARNDT
HUMBOLDT – Janna E. Arndt, 47, of Ankeny, formerly of Humboldt, passed away August 17, 2013 at the Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt with the Rev. J.K. Raether officiating. Interment will be in Zion Cemetery, Beaver Township and Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Church. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt is in charge of arrangements.
Janna is survived by her sister, Maribeth (Keith) Erickson of Wall Lake; brothers, Fred Arndt of Humboldt and Jim (Diane) Arndt of Humboldt; niece and nephews, Kari (Matt) Rhiner, Nick (Dawn) Erickson, Jackson Arndt, and Carson Arndt; and her great nieces and nephew, Madeline Erickson, Jordan Rhiner, and Jasmyn Rhiner. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Janna Elizabeth Arndt, the daughter of Fred and Wilma (Carlson) Arndt, was born December 29, 1965 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa and was baptized on January 16, 1966 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Janna received her education at Humboldt and graduated from Humboldt High School with the class of 1984 where she enjoyed participating in choir, drama, and band. She attended Concordia University in Seward, NE graduating in 1988 with a BS in Secondary Education, Speech/Drama, and History. Janna taught at Baltimore Lutheran High School in Baltimore, MD until returning to Humboldt in 1991. She then went to work as a fundraiser for Lutheran Family Services in Fort Dodge while completing her Masters Degree in Public Administration and Human Recourses from Drake University. From 2003 until the time of her death, Janna served as a Provider, Outreach, and Education Coordinator for Cahaba, LLC in Des Moines.
Jan enjoyed baking and was especially known for her bread. She also enjoyed traveling and music. Above all, Janna loved the time she spent with her family and friends, especially her nephews, Jackson and Carson.
