FDSH offers Parent University

Fort Dodge Senior High invites the parents and guardians of freshman students to the annual Parent University on Thursday.

Parent and family involvement in education, more than any other factor, is known to influence and support student success. Parent University will provide important information for parents, which is designed to help meet the needs of their child as they transition from middle school to high school. This event will provide an opportunity for parents to meet the staff and connect with resources to help their student get a good start to the senior high experience.

Parent University will include the following sessions:

Infinite Campus: Get an in-depth look into the “student portal” and learn how to monitor your child’s academic progress as well as attendance.

School attendance: Communication tools for encouraging regular and prompt attendance will be shared.

Freshman Academy structure and student expectations: Learn strategies and techniques your child can use, as well as skills and expected behaviors students need to be successful at the senior high.

Technology use: Ideas and strategies will be provided to help you help your child use technology and electronics responsibly.

Support services: Information about Bridges and other support services will be available.

Parent University will be held Thursday, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., in the Gail Niceswanger Little Theater at Fort Dodge Senior High.
