MANSON – Donna Mae Becker 70 of Manson, Iowa died August 1, 2013 after a 48 year battle with diabetes. She was born in Pocahontas County Iowa on September 28, 1942 to Dale & Tena (Dornath) Niemand. She was baptized at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Palmer, and confirmed in 1956 at St. Johns Lutheran Church Pomeroy. Donna graduated in 1961 from Manson High School and attended Wartburg College in Waverly and Ft. Dodge Comm. College before marrying Gordon R. Becker on Oct. 6, 1963 in Pomeroy.

Donna was an active member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church, Manson. She was President of Church Women United ’80-’81. Served as Cherub & Youth Choir Director for 10 years, held many ALCW offices including President in 1983. Donna was a business woman in Manson beginning her career working for Fitzpatrick’s Dept Store in 1959, the Manson State Bank in 1962 and finally purchasing the Gambles Store with her husband Gordon in 1971. She enjoyed serving as Manson Music Boosters President from ’82-’83. She loved being a part of her son’s “Mr. Magic” entertainment business doing everything from sewing stage curtains to being his assistant. Her hobbies included music, sewing, remodeling & decorating.

Donna is survived by her Husband: Gordon of Manson, Son: Matthew R. (Maude) Becker & Grandson: Bradley Carsten Becker of Arvada, Colorado, Sister: Beverly (Roger) Hunt of Cedar Rapids, 3 Aunts, 4 Nieces, 5, Nephews, many cousins and friends. Donna was preceded in death by her parents & many extended family members.

Direct Cremation with Memorial Service 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 6, 2013 St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church 1108 13th Ave. Manson, Iowa. Committal of Ashes, St. Paul’s Cemetery Manson, Iowa. In lieu of flowers Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family in Donna’s memory.
