Aladdin takes the stage in Lake City

LAKE CITY – Village Square Theatre will present “The Magical Lamp of Aladdin” as its summer theater this year. Curtain opens at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 2 and 3 at the South Central Calhoun High School auditorium, 709 W. Main St., Lake City.

It is the classic story of Aladdin (Gage Rohlf), his monkey sidekick Alakazam (Tori Ellis) and Princess Jasmine (Anna McChesney). Other characters are an evil magician, David Wedemeyer; the sultan, Tate Steig; and the executioner, Chop-Chop, Aiden Westcott. In this version, there are three genies (Ellie McChesney, Cara Voorde and Riley Snyder), the whining Ali “Bubba,” (Parker Rohlfs) the fire-breathing dragon (Andrew Westcott) and the haughty sultan’s wife (Aspen Ellis). Kimberly Daisy, Delanie Westcott, Reagan Rohlfs, Cassidy Voorde, Payton Ellis, Kirsten Morrow, Brielle Korleski and Addisyn Korleski are also in the cast.

Tickets are available from the cast, at the door and at Lake City’s and Rockwell City’s United Bank of Iowa locations, $5 adult and $3 students.
