Toxic faith to be explored at Lifetree Cafe

Ways that religion is sometimes harmful will be explored at Lifetree Cafe at noon and 7 p.m. Tuesday at Cana, 18 S. Third St.

The program, titled “Toxic Faith: When Religion Hurts,” features an exclusive filmed interview with Sam Brower, the private investigator who cracked open the case that led to the arrest of Warren Jeffs, the leader of the polygamous Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

“Recent research shows that religion and church involvement enhance well-being and health,” said Lifetree representative Craig Cable. “But sometimes religion crosses from being something positive to something sinister – something toxic.”
