BLAINE, Minn. – Donald Shaker Zakeer, Sr. was born July 25, 1921 in Kewanee, Illinois, to Smi and Carl Zakeer.

Don passed away at home on June 29th with his loving family present. He was raised in Fort Dodge, and served 4 years in the Army’s Armored Division during WWII, returning home to join the family business. He and his family relocated to Minn. where he helped open the very first Target Store. He then moved on to a variety of successful sales ventures.

He is survived by wife of 37 years, Susan; son and daughter-in-law, Zeke and Marcy; daughter and son-in-law Judy and Jim Dumas; grandchildren, Amie, Ross, Justin, Chad, Cody and wife Mandy; brother and sister-in-law Bob and Marie; nephew Tom and his family; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Mark and Nancy Gilderhus and family, and rescue dog, Rosco.

Visitation and funeral services were held on July 5th at Gearty-Delmore Robbinsdale Chapel, with interment following at Fort Snelling Cemetery.
