WINTER GARDEN, Fla. – A graveside memorial for David Michael Halpin, 69, will be held 11 am on Tuesday July 16 at St. James Cemetery in Clare.

Born August 15, 1943 in Oconomowoc, WI to Lawrence and Margaret (Schuele) Halpin, Dave was raised in Cedar Rapids, IA and graduated from Iowa State. After serving in the U.S. Army, he began his career as an industrial engineer. He spent several years with various divisions of the Quaker Oats Company, and the family lived in IA, IL, CT, NY, and FL. Dave was active in the YMCA, Boy Scouts, his church, and his children’s schools, and he enjoyed dirt (off-road) motorcycles, woodworking, and travel. He passed away Sunday, May 5, 2013 in Winter Garden, FL after an extended battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Dave is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Kathleen (Lawler), who grew up in Clare; children, Shannon (John) Zuzek, Michael (Carmel) Halpin, and Erin (Brendan) Walsh; siblings, Larry (Judy) Halpin, Cathy (Bill) Munsell, Jamey (Mary) Halpin, and Molly (Tim) Eovino; stepfather, Henry Haegg; and grandchildren, Olivia, Tristan, Conor, Ellie and Aoibhinn. He was preceded in death by his parents.
