FARNHAMVILLE – Lillian M. Gallentine 88, of North English, formerly of Spirit Lake and Farnhamville, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 15, at the Palmer Funeral Home in Gowrie, with Pastor Doug Rushton officiating. Burial will be at Gowrie Township Cemetery. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to family discretion.

Lillian is survived by her daughters, Nancy Gallentine of North English, and Debbie Gallentine of Westminister, CO; sister-in-law Margie Wyatt of Fort Dodge; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob; her parents, Julius and Lydia Branstner Johnson; and brothers, Clare, William, Roy, Carl, and Raymond Johnson.

Lillian Margaret Johnson was born July 15, 1924 in rural Gowrie. She attended country school and graduated from Farnhamville High School, with the Class of 1941. Lillian worked in Fort Dodge until moving to Los Angeles with three childhood friends. There she worked at VandeKamps Bakery on Wilshire Blvd in Beverly Hills. On October 31, 1948 she was united in marriage to Bob Gallentine at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple farmed in the Farnhamvillearea. In 1978, they made their home at Spirit Lake and retired from farming in 1987. Following her husband’s death in 1998, Lillian moved to North English where she lived with her daughter Nancy. She was a member of BE of TTT, and the United Methodist Church, both of Farnhamville. Bob, Lillian and their daughters traveled extensively in the United States and Europe. They were fortunate to visit Lillian’s father’s home in Sweden and visit with relatives there.
