SIOUX CITY – John Neil Hackett, 64, Sioux City, Iowa died on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at a Sioux Falls Hospital.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Fr. Armand Bertrand will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. The family will be present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a parish vigil service to be said at 7:00 p.m.

John was born on April 10, 1949, in Onawa, Iowa. He was the son of Paul A. and Shirley C. (Lorenzen) Hackett. He was raised in Pisgah, Iowa, and graduated from West Harrison High School. He attended Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge and graduated from Buena Vista College with a degree in business. He married Janet M. Hanson on November 7, 1970, in Fort Dodge, IA. John worked for Lumbermans Millwork Supply Co. in Fort Dodge and in Sioux City. He came to Sioux City in 1978. He was an accounting professional at Thompson Electric, John Morrell, and most recently at Curly’s Foods. John was member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where he volunteered in many capacities. John was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Heelan High School. He enjoyed collecting John Deere tractors and working outdoors in the yard. The most important part of his life was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

He will be greatly missed!

He is survived by his wife, Jan of Sioux City, two sons, Matthew and Jamie of Waukee, IA, Thomas Hackett of Sioux City, IA, two daughters, Sarah Hackett of Sioux City, Ann and Ryan Baker of Sioux City, 9 grandchildren, Anthony, Paige, Christopher, Jacob, Caleb, Noah, Julia, Haley and Leah, his brother, James and Mary Kay of Lincoln, NE, three sisters, Janelle and Bob Loney of Des Moines, IA, Janet Hackett of Seaford, Delaware, and Janice Hackett of Fort Dodge, IA. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael, and his parents.
