GOLD CANYON, Ariz – Milton Anderson, 86, of Fort Dodge, IA passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2013 at Amanda’s Care Home II in Mesa, AZ. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with burial following at North Lawn Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Milton was born on a farm near Rockwell City on October 17, 1926 to Anton and Nellie (Hoff) Anderson. After schooling in Rockwell City he helped his father on the family farm. His father died when Milton was in his 20’s and he farmed for a few years on his own before retiring. He lived with his mother in Rockwell City who died in 1970. Milton was a member of Skaraborg Lutheran Church, Piper, IA until it closed in 1969. He became a member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Manson, IA. On November 21, 1981 he was united in marriage to Dolores Oberhelman of Barnum. The couple made their home in Fort Dodge and wintered in Mesa, AZ.

Milton never knew a stranger, he loved visiting with people who often became close friends. He enjoyed traveling, even making a trip to Sweden. In his younger years he was an avid bowler and in later years he loved playing golf.

Milton is survived by his step-daughter Judy (Tom) Rial of Walker, MN; his step-grandchildren Lori (Tom) Weidner of Pleasant View, UT, Tom (Kymberley) Rial of Des Moines, IA and Tim (Lisa) Rial of Carroll, IA; 10 step-great-grandchildren and his first cousin Carene Folden of Rockwell City, IA. Milton was preceded in death by his wife Dolores and his parents Anton and Nellie Anderson.

Memorials may be made to Blank Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House, both in Des Moines, IA.
