MADRID – Grace Swyter, 91, died June 30, 2013 at the Madrid Home in Madrid, Iowa. Visitation will be held 10 a.m. on Friday July 5th 2013 at the Faith United Methodist Church, 107 4th St. N. Humboldt, followed by her Memorial Service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Charles Luers officiating. There will be a lunch after her service, and then burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Britt.
Survivors include one son Dean Swyter of Ames, 3 grandchildren; Amy, Kimberly, and DeAnna; and 7 great-grandchildren; Patrick, Zachary, Alexander, Micah, Lucy, Violet, and Hazel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Verna and Walter Wilhite, by her sister Velma, by her brother Otho, and by her husband, William.
Grace Wilhite was born May 23, 1922 in Hancock County, Iowa. She graduated from Britt Junior College and Drake University with a Bachelor of Science in education. She taught in Hancock County and in Fort Dodge. In 1942 she married William Swyter at the First Methodist Church, San Diego, California. The couple moved to a farm near Badger in 1946. While living there, grace did chemical analysis for the Fort Dodge Laboratories in the Pharmaceutical Department, The couple moved to Humboldt in 1973.
Grace enjoyed many years of playing cards, She liked reading, especially her Bible and current events in the newspapers.
Memorials will be made to the Faith United Methodist Church or to the Madrid Home in Madrid, Iowa.
