FD author will hold book signings
Fort Dodge author Rick Carle will have a signing for his new memoir “Go Figure” at from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and July 7 at Hy-Vee Food Store, 115 S. 29th St. A second book signing will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. July 20 and 21 at Hy-Vee Drug Store, 214 S. 25th St.
Carle grew up in Nebraska and moved to Fort Dodge in 1973 to attend Iowa Central Community College. He calls his story a “wacky journey from outlaw to leading citizen,” which shows how a “small town Opie-like boy becomes a big-time drug dealer.” Though he was raised with upstanding Midwestern values, he traveled down a crooked road that should have sent him to prison. Instead, Carle turned his life around.
“In the end, the book is living proof that if you have the determination to change the path you are going down, you can change your life for the better,” he said.
Carle is now on the Habitat for Humanity board, the Fort Dodge Preservation Commission and the Greater Growth Leadership Steering Committee and is the commissioner of the Friends of Oakland Cemetery Board.
