Violet A. Nelson, 95, of Fort Dodge, died Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at Friendship Haven Health Center.

A service honoring Violet’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 28 at Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Matthew Martens officiating. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Friday at the church. Memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Violet is survived by three generations of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Verne, Roy and Art Nelson, Maria Hood, Mildred Dayton, Ethel Allen and her twin Viola Nelson.

Violet A. Nelson, the daughter of Allen and Anna (Rengman) Nelson, was born December 22, 1917 in Fort Dodge. She graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1936 and attended Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis. She was a lifelong resident of Fort Dodge and was employed with Fort Dodge Labs from 1951-1979, from where she retired.

Violet was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and was involved with many other organizations in the church including ladies circle and Bible groups. Violet enjoyed sending letters and cards to friends and family.
