Hameed sought in attempted murder case

A warrant has been issued for a suspect who is alleged to have shot and injured a man Friday.

Devone M. Hameed, 21, of Fort Dodge, is being sought by Fort Dodge police on an attempted murder warrant.

He’s accused of shooting Cameron D. Carodine, 23, of Fort Dodge, last Friday afternoon.

Around 12:14 that day, officers were in the area of 300 N. Ninth St. investigating a report of gunshots being fired when another call came in from the 800 block of Fourth Avenue North saying a man had been shot.

That man, whom police later identified as Carodine, had a gunshot wound near his left hip. He was taken to Trinity Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released later that afternoon.

As the investigation continued, Police Chief Tim Carmody said detectives were able to identify Hameed as the suspect. They are now asking for help in locating him.

“Our hope is that Mr. Hameed is quickly located and apprehended so that we can move this case forward,” Carmody said, adding Webster County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 leading to Hameed’s capture and conviction.

Hameed is described as a black man who is 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs 140 lbs. He also has a tattoo of the name “Desirae” on his chest.

Anyone with information on Hameed is asked to call the Fort Dodge Police Department at 573-1426 or Crime Stoppers at 573-1444. Tips can also be sent online at wccrimestoppers.com or by texting “LEC” and the tip to 274637.
