LAKE CITY – Laurene Dowling, 92, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City. Funeral services will be

1 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City with Pastor Joe Roberts officiating and burial in the Lake City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lampe Funeral Home.

Laurene Aurelia Dowling was born on May 3, 1921 to Theodore and Aletha (Jenks) Bowers. Shegraduated from Lake City High School in 1939 and later attended St. Anthony Hospital’s School of Nursing in Carroll to get her LPN degree. She worked at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City as an LPN and Pomeroy Care Center in Pomeroy as a Nursing Home Administrator for several years. On August 13, 1939 Laurene was united in marriage to Clifford Dowling in Lake City. She was a member of Woodlawn Christian Church in Lake City.

Laurene is survived by her children Wayne (Sally) Dowling of Lake City, Tom (Arleen) Dowling of Lebanon, TN, Jane (Mark) Toyne of St. Joe, MO, and Paul (Allene) Dowling of Lohrville, daughter-in-law Shirley Burd of Rockwell City, 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, and several half siblings from MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clifford in 2001, sons Donald and Keith, daughter Dianne, and sisters, Lois McCoy and Lavonne Hucka Peterson.
