A Memorial gathering for 67 year old Paul E. M. Kersten III will be held Saturday June 22, 4:00 PM at the Crawford Park Shelter House in Ft. Dodge. Family and friends are welcome to attend. Kersten died on April 12, 2013 in Hauula, Hawaii.

A 1964 graduate of Ft. Dodge Senior High, Kersten served in the Vietnam War. He married Mary Rose Dorrel in 1969 and the couple lived in Florida where Paul graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. They had one child, Lisa. Kersten loved flying and flew for a living his entire life. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He hunted big game in Africa (for which he held a world record for many years), Red Deer in the Pyrenees of North Spain and enjoyed falconing in Saudi Arabia. He spent many summers in Northern Canada fishing with family and friends. Paul Married Rose Marie Rudolph, on June 24, 1982. They had two children Maria and Paul IV. Paul met the love of his life, Julia Sigsby, in 2008 and the two resided in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. They were spending 6 months in Hawaii when Paul died. He was an active member of the VFW as well as the Vietnam Veterans of America. Later in life, Paul was able to return to Vietnam and came to love the country.

Paul was preceded in death by his father Paul E.M. Kersten II, and his mother, Mary Paul Kersten.

Paul is survived by: Julia Sigsby, his children Maria Kersten-Hakeem (Justin), Paul E.M. Kersten IV, Lisa Kersten Anthony (Jeff), grandchildren Jordyn, Alyvia, Juliet, Jack, Charlie Rose, and Colin, sisters Kathleen Kersten Roethler (Bob), Mary Lee Kersten-Day, and brother Tom Kersten (Joan Anderson).
