GILMORE CITY – Dorothy Cook Harrell, 82 of Gilmore City died Friday June 7, 2013 at the Paula Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge. Services will be held Wednesday, 11:30 AM at Faith United Methodist Church, Gilmore City. Visitation is from 10 AM – 11:30 AM Wednesday at the church prior to services. Burial will take place in Powhattan Cemetery, Plover. Harris Funeral Home of Gilmore City is in charge of arrangements. Dorothy L. Bruner, the daughter of Harry and Ernestine (Rickard) Bruner was born March 15, 1931 in Bradgate, IA. She attended school in Gilmore City, graduating in 1948. On October 2, 1948 she was united in marriage with Edwin Cook in Blue Earth, MN. To this union 4 children were born. They lived in Fort Dodge and later divorced. On May 2, 1983 she married Ed Harrell in Elizabeth City, NC. Dorothy worked as a book keeper for several companies including H.T. Kennedy Company in Fort Dodge and as the Deputy Treasurer of the city of Newport News, VA, retiring in 1996. Dorothy was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, Gilmore City, the Ladies Auxiliary, the Red Hats and loved her time spent as an after school helper making snacks for the kids. She loved to garden and cook, but most of all loved to help and give to everyone she met. She so loved the time she spent with her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Survivors include her husband Ed, 4 children: Patricia (David) Hermann, Norwalk, IA, Pamela (Keith) Elliot, Prairie Village, KS, Janice (Bob) Fallacara, Fort Dodge, IA, Bruce (Linda) Cook, Ankeny, IA, 3 step children, Angela (Clay) Kritzer, Gilmore City, IA, Michelle (Tim) Lee, South Riding, VA and Cary (Rob) Spewak, Leesburg, VA, 7 grandchildren, 4 Step grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Ruth (Eldon) Peters, Manson, IA and Doris Cook, Fort Dodge, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Wilbur and will be greatly missed by all. Memorials may be directed to Unity Hospice of Fort Dodge. Online condolences to
