SE boys fall to H-D

HAMPTON – The fifth-ranked (Class 2A) St. Edmond baseball team was unable to halt their five-game losing skid, falling to Hampton-Dumont Friday night, 4-3.

Senior Anthony Schnabel belted a three-run double in the bottom of the seventh with two outs to provide the game-winning runs for the Bulldogs.

Hank Crimmins recorded 12 strikeouts and walked five, scattering just four hits. Jason Setterdahl had two hits to lead the Gaels (3-6 overall, 0-4 in North Central Conference).

“We just have to find ways to make plays,” SEHS head coach Joe Shanks said. “We did have some guys make better plays at the plate with the bats, but we are still working.”

St. Edmond returns to action today at the Dowling Tournament in Des Moines. They play top-ranked (1A) Mason City Newman and No. 7 (2A) Iowa City Regina.
