Gael girls top Bulldogs

HAMPTON – The St. Edmond softball picked up a 10-2 victory over Hampton-Dumont on Friday night.

The Gaels (9-2 overall, 5-1 North Central Conference) pounded out 13 hits.

Maggie Harvey had a home run and a RBI for the Gaels.

“It was nice to see us break out early,” said St. Edmond head coach Paul Hunt. “We’ve been stressing coming out early and executing at the plate.”

Josie Heesch, Allie Oberg and Katie Bocken had doubles as well. Bocken had three hits on the night.

“The girls hit the ball hard,” Hunt said. “Harvey’s home run was to the deepest part of the park and Heesch’s double was a shot off the fence.

“I was also happy with the defense.”

The Gaels are back in action on Monday when they travel to Eagle Grove.
