Tompkins residents will move this week
Dozens of community volunteers will be on hand at Friendship Haven all week to help residents of Tompkins Health Center at Friendship Haven, move to the new Health Center located just to the south of the current Tompkins six-story building.
The new Health Center is a three-story building with 96 private rooms, private bathrooms and community kitchens for each household of 16 rooms.
The Friendship Haven team of employees, volunteers and Whites Transfer and Storage Co. will have moved all residents by Thursday. After Thursday, no residents will live in the current Tompkins Health Center, and only a few offices and Generations Adult Day Services will remain in the building.
Generations will soon move from the sixth floor to the first floor of Tompkins. Plans are underway for constructing a new Generations building on campus.
While construction continues on the entire building project, there will be a temporary entrance marked to indicate where to enter the Health Center. The temporary entrance is located on Fort Museum Road on the west side of the new building.
The entire project should be completed by December, which will include a new main entrance.
