DES MOINES – Wilma Ann Schulze was born July 3, 1925, in her maternal grandparents’ farm home in Beaver Township, Humboldt County, IA. She died May 16, 2013, in Des Moines, IA with family and friends at her side.
She was raised in Fort Dodge, IA and graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1943. In 1943 she married Robert Dale Newbrough (Bob) at Ft. Maxey, TX, where he was awaiting infantry deployment to Europe. They raised four children while following his career moves from Vincent to Fort Dodge, Des Moines, Latimer, Waterloo, Waverly, Estherville, ending in Des Moines again in 1961.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband; parents, William F. and Ruth M. (Schulz) Schulze, Fort Dodge, and brother, Duane (Cathy) Schulze, Omaha. She is survived by her children; Kathryn Steacy, Chico, CA, and William (Bill), Mary and Michael of Des Moines; grandsons, Chad Steacy (Christine), Athens, GA, and Zachary Newbrough, Waukee. There is one great-grandchild, Kiona Newbrough. Expected in two months is Sophie Steacy. Wilma’s devoted caregiver, Cathy Kimberly, Des Moines, also survives.
Wilma wished that her ashes be added to Bob’s at Merle Hay Mausoleum, Des Moines, and that there be no services.
