LAKE CITY – Roy Johnson, 90, died Monday, May 20, 2013 at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2013, at Lanesboro Cemetery in Lanesboro, with military honors provided by the Lake City American Legion Post #31 and V.F.W. Post #1899.
Survivors include his sister-in-law Marjorie Johnson of Higginsville, Mo. and several nieces and nephews. Local survivors include niece LaDonna Temple, of Lake City. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Dorothea Johnson, wife Dorothea, brothers Wayne “Short” and Earl Johnson, and sisters Elaine Graham and Mary Lou Merritt.
Roy Edward Johnson was born on March 24, 1923 in Audubon County to Carl “Frank” and Dorothea (Beier) Johnson. He served overseas for two years during WWII with the U.S. Army. In 1959 he was married to Dorothea Bott in Indiana. Roy worked as a truck driver for 40 years with Brady Transfer before retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and American Legion.
