Irene E. Dencklau, 89, of Fort Dodge passed away on Tuesday May 28, 2013 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday May 31, 2013 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Reverend William Van Nostrand officiating. Burial will follow at Colfax Township Cemetery, Vincent, IA. The visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Irene was born in Deer Creek Township on February 9, 1924 to Albert and Agnes (Kirchhof) Licht. She grew up in the Deer Creek Township area. She married Raymond A. Dencklau on July 21, 1946. They made their home farming in the Vincent area until retiring in 1988. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, Lutheran Layman’s League and also served on the Soil and Water Conservation Committee. She loved sewing, gardening, baking and spending time with her family and friends.

Irene is survived by her daughter Cheryl (Dennis) Jacobsen of Eagle Grove, IA; grandchildren Kari (Jeff) Jacobsen-Gagnow of Malone, WI and Bret (Bethany) Jacobsen of Cedar Falls, IA and great-granddaughter Lila Jacobsen; daughter-in-law Fran (Kurt) Johnson of Vincent, IA; grandchildren Ben Dencklau of Cedar Falls, IA, Brittney Dencklau of Ames, IA and Heather Dencklau of Vincent, IA; her siblings Elberta Adkins of Gowrie, IA, Ruth (Duane) Fredrickson of Farnhamville, IA and Walter (Jeri) Licht of Badger, IA; brother-in-law Harold Vosberg of Humboldt, IA and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond; son Kenny; her parents; brother Ed (Eileen) Licht; sister Marjorie Vosberg and brother-in-law Willis Adkins.
