Body found near Kamrar
The body of a man, matching the description the missing Jewell resident, Kenneth Heckman, was found northeast of Kamrar Monday night.
Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the area after a local farmer reported finding a New Holland backhoe matching the description of the one Heckman had been operating. The backhoe was found in a wooded area south of 260th Street in rural Hamilton County near a creek. A short distance away, a body was recovered from the creek. According to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s office, The body has been delivered to the State Medical Examiner’s office for positive identification. An autopsy was ordered by Dr. Joseph Latella, Hamilton County Medical Examiner, to determine the cause of death, though no foul play is suspected.
Kenneth Heckman, last seen Thursday at 6 a.m., was reported missing by his family on Friday morning. Heckman turned 46 on Thursday and did not show up for a planned birthday party. His family said authorities found Heckman’s pickup truck and dog in a farm field and had likely left the truck on a backhoe.
