FDSH girls fourth at regionals

The Fort Dodge girls golf team turned in a 421, placing fourth at a Class 5A regional final at Lakeside Golf Course Monday.

Cedar Falls (338) was meet champion, while West Des Moines Valley (348) finished second. Both advance to the 5A state meet, which takes place May 28-29 in Panora at Lake Panorama National.

Johnston was third with a 396, followed by the Dodgers. Mason City, Waterloo West and Waterloo East rounded out the team scoring.

Angie Ellendson led Fort Dodge, firing a 44-51 to card a 95, placing her in a tie for eighth overall. Kylie Kuiper added a 106, Samantha Berning a 108 and Payton Christy a 112.

The other golfers for the Dodgers were Jozlynn Porter (119) and Cierra Sturm (120).

“We’re happy with our score,” FDSH head coach Kristi Clark said. “We’re definitely making progress. We will certainly miss our seniors and appreciate everything they did for us, but I?think the program continues to head in the right direction and the future is bright.”

Dani Duerschmidt of Valley was meet-medalist, firing a 76. Allison Rolinger from Cedar Falls placed second with a round of 79.
