Lauds Honor Flight coverage

To the editor:

Thank you for the coverage and the support for the Honor Flights and especially for the veterans who served so well in all of the conflicts. They deserve all of accolades, honors, support and gratitude all of us can present to them.

Thank the wonderful Lord for blessing them, preserving them in the conflicts and returning them to this wonderful United States and to this beautiful state of Iowa.

Thanks to The Messenger, to the Honor Flight Committee and members. But thank you most to the veterans for their service to our wonderful nation.

Thanks to Jesse Helling for the article and for correctly referring to the Marine Corps statue patterned from the Joe Rosenthal famous photo of the U.S. Marines raising the flag on Mount Suribachi.

This memorial is indeed the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial in tribute to all U.S. Marines of all wars in which they participated as well as all conflicts small and large (mostly large and significant).

The Battle of Iwo Jima was significant but was just one of many bloody and significant battles of World War II as well as other battles in other wars.

Thank you for the correct designation.
