BAXTER – James Ollenburg, 71, of Baxter, Iowa formerly of Fort Dodge, died Monday, May 13, 2013 at the Baxter Healthcare Center in Baxter. Graveside services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday at North Lawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge. The Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.

James Luther Ollenburg was born on June 18, 1941. He was the son of Luther and Anna Marie Ollenburg. Jim grew up in the small town of Knoke, Iowa. He attended elementary school at Saint Paul’s Lutheran School in Knoke, and graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1959. Jim attended Wartburg College in Waverly, IA. He worked a short time doing social work. He also worked at the Manson Journal, and also at the Indianola newspaper writing sports articles. Jim’s hobby was watching baseball and he knew many statistics of many players, and was truly a Chicago Cubs fan. Jim became disabled very early in life but remained independent until 2011, at which time he moved to the Baxter Health Care in Baxter, IA. Jim is survived by his sister, Janet Dorage-McClurg (Don); two nephews, Rick Dorage (Michelle) and Randy Dorage (Jodi); and one niece, Anne Dorage Michael (Tim); five grand nephews and niece. Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
