Dodger boys soccer hosts Ames
The Fort Dodge boys soccer team dropped a tough 2-0 setback to Ames at Dodger Stadium Friday night.
The Little Cyclones (9-3 overall) have won four of their last five and are a perennial contender for state berths.
“Ames is a very good team,” FDSH head coach Pablo Rodriguez said. “I think this was the best game my guys have played under my coaching.
“It was an exciting game, back-and-forth. We created many scoring opportunities, we just couldn’t capitalize on them.”
This was the sixth shutout victory of the year for the Little Cyclones.
“We showed that we can play with anybody after a game like this,” Rodriguez said. “I think this was a real eye-opener to see them play together and attack together.”
Fort Dodge (4-6 overall) returns to action Monday when they host Des Moines Roosevelt (7-4). They Dodgers play four of their final five games of the year at home.
