MANSON – Mabel A. Rost, 88, died at Paula J. Baber Hospice Home on Wed. May 8, 2013. Funeral services will be held on Tues. May 14 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manson. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. on Mon. at Larson-Weishaar Funeral Home in Manson. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Manson.

Mabel Anna Davis was born on Dec. 22, 1924, near Jolley, IA, the daughter of Fred and Myrtle (Brown) Davis. She attended country schools in that area and then continued living at home, helping on the family farm. She played the accordion in their family musical group, as well as playing with Cecelia and The Little Giants. On Jan. 20, 1945, she was united in marriage with Leo Rost in Baltimore, MD. After W.W. II ended, they returned to Manson, and, together, they started Rost Motors, working together to make the business a success.

Mabel is survived by her husband of 68 years, Leo; children Delbert (Jeanne) Rost, Bernie (Kim) Rost and Colleen (Randy) Kaiser, all of Manson, IA; nine grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister Bonnie McChesney of Lake City, IA. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother Leonard Davis; and sister Viola Brown.
