Dodger girls compete at CIC

WAUKEE – The Fort Dodge girls track team competed at the CIC meet here Monday.

The Dodgers earned a third place in the 4×200-meter relay, clocking a time of 1:47.40.

Waukee was the overall meet champion, while Fort Dodge finished in 10th.

Running the 4×2 were Fatima Newsome, Ashley Altman, Lexi Astor and Tiana Mericle.

“Our 4×2 ran better than they have all year,” FDSH head coach Todd Constable said. “We pushed our relays hard (Monday), preparing them for districts on Thursday.

“I’m excited about what I saw and think the kids ran well.”

Fort Dodge also placed fourth in the sprint medley (1:55.99) behind Newsome, Alexis Lessmeier, Mericle and Astor.

Astor was also sixth in the long jump, as was the 4×100 of Newsome, Lessmeier, Astor and Mericle.

Fort Dodge will host a district meet on Thursday at Dodger Stadium.
