Raymond Gales, age 82, of Fort Dodge, died on Friday, April 26, 2013 at his home. Services will be 10:30 AM Wednes-day at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joseph, with Rev. Merle Kollasch celebrating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Otto-Field American Legion Post #415 of Livermore. Visitation will be 4 to 7 PM Tuesday at the church, with a 4 PM Rosary and a 7 PM Scripture Service.

Raymond F. Gales, the son of Raymond Peter and Anna Susan (Hilbert) Gales, was born on October 26, 1930 in Bode, Iowa. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1948. Ray served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On July 16, 1957 Ray was united in marriage with Audrey Smith at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Livermore. He was the chief engineer at KVFD-TV until 1977 and then an instructor at Iowa Central Community College, retiring in 1992.

Left to cherish Ray’s memory is his wife of 55 years, Audrey; two sons, Michael Gales of Reynoldsburg, Ohio and Mark Gales of Fort Dodge; a granddaughter, Ashley Gales of Granger; two sisters, Theresa McKibban of Livermore and Margaret Sopavich of Coalville; and a brother, John Gales of Livermore. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Rosanne Kinnetz; and a brother, James Gales.
