Linn’s Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls, has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Ruth Elizabeth Blome was born to Adolph and Hattie Blome on August 13, 1926 in Somers, IA. Ruth was baptized as a child of God on September 5, 1926, and grew in her faith under the mentoring care of her parents and church family.

In 1943, Ruth graduated from Farnhamville High School as co-salutatorian with her sister, Rhoda. She began her professional banking career in Fort Dodge, IA., at First National Bank which became Wells Fargo. For many years, Ruth served as a bank officer. When she retired in 1991, she was honored not only by those with whom she worked but by many clients who had trusted her with financial decisions.

Ruth was an involved member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge where she served on the Board of Finance, with the women’s society and, after the church fire, on the Building Committee. Ruth served on the board of Lutheran Family Service of Iowa in the position of treasurer. Ruth was also active in her community with organizations such as Women’s Club and Watoni.

Together with friends and family, Ruth liked to travel. She enjoyed trips to New York and the east coast, Florida, California, the Rockies, Canada and points in between. Ruth never married, so the children of her brother and sisters became very special to her. Ruth also greatly enjoyed time with her cousins, many of whom still live in the Hubbard and Eldora area. Ruth seldom missed a Blome or Kasischke family reunion.

In 2007, after heart surgery, Ruth moved to Iowa Falls where she resided at Cedar Ridge for three years until needing assisted help at Scenic Manor. She transferred her membership from St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls. Ruth never boasted of her faith, but it was real to her. She practiced the Christian faith of her father and mother, not because it was tradition, but because Truth matters. She knew Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord. She entrusted her life to Him.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, brother Arlind, and sisters Vera, Irma, and Rhoda.

Ruth is survived by her brother-in-law, Lloyd Barhite of Iowa Falls; four nephews, Fred (Sharon) McGilvrey of Indio, CA., Larry (Jo) Blome of Austin, TX., Robert (Judy) Blome of New Braunfels, TX., and Steve (Jo-Ann) Barhite of Iowa Falls; two nieces, Linda (Paul) Bartlett of Iowa Falls, and Mary Jacobson of Iowa Falls; eleven grand nephews and nieces; and numerous great-grand nephews and nieces.
