FDSH?succeeds at Industrial Tech contest

Students represented Fort Dodge Senior High in Iowa Central Community Colleges Annual Industrial Technology and Health Care Competition Days on April 18.

Eighteen FDSH students participated in the diesel technology, autoCAD, welding, automotive technology, carpentry, automotive collision, residential wiring and solid modeling categories of the Industrial Technology competition. The following students placed in their categories: Wyatt Heckman, first place in automotive technology; Joseph Walston, first place in solid modeling; Larry Earnest, first place in TIG welding and third place in arc welding; Levi Lewison, second place in automotive technology; Hawkins Bell, second place in auto CAD; Trevon Lowery, third place in automotive collision; and Reid Cooper, third place in TIG welding.

Four FDSH students competed against nearly 80 students from ten schools in the health care competition. The following students placed in their contests: Beth Petersen, first in anatomy/physiology and nutrition; Allison Birnbaum, first in CPR and first aid; Dalton Holdredge, first in medical terminology and second in anatomy/physiology and nutrition.

“Competitions like this are a great opportunity for our students to showcase their skills,” said Ed Birkey, FDSH industrial technology instructor. “The kids worked hard and our results show that. I’m proud of all of their efforts.”
