SURPRISE, Ariz. – Arlene Vivian Lindsey died April 26, 2013, in Surprise, AZ.
She was born to Emma Greve Baker and Harley Baker on October 28, 1925, at their farm located near Jolley, Iowa. She graduated from Ayrshire, Iowa, in 1944 and went to work following high school in Rockwell City, Iowa, at the Rexall Drug Store. Following WW II, Arlene met and married Edward McCarville and had two sons, Paul McCarville and Michael (Mick) McCarville. Arlene worked as a correctional officer at the Iowa Women’s Reformatory first in Rockwell City, and later in Mitchellville, IA. During her time working in Mitchellville, and living in Altoona, she met and married George Lindsey Jr., her second husband. George preceded her in death in 2001. Arlene moved to Surprise, AZ, with her son Mick and his wife Vicki in 2006. Aging with Dignity, an assisted living home, was her residence from 2009-2013.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, sisters Mercedes Hickey and Caroline Conway. She was blessed with three grandchildren, Amy McCarville Ramadan, Chicago; Andrew McCarville living in Davenport, IA, and Kelsey McCarville Kelly living in Seattle, WA. She has three great-grandsons: Mo and Ramses Ramadan, Chicago; Aaron McCarville, Davenport.
The family will greet friends and relatives in Arizona May 1st. Services will also be held in Iowa in July with interment in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, Des Moines, Iowa.
