SE girls in action

HAMPTON – The St. Edmond girls track team placed seventh at the Hampton-Dumont Invitational on Friday.

The Gaels registered 62 points. West Hancock (137) and Eagle Grove (111) were first and second.

Mary Eide (800, 2:34.17) and the distance medley (Madi Reel, Hannah Lentsch, Maddie McCarville and Eide, 4:41.97) each turned in runner-up performances for SEHS.

Eide also finished third in the 1500 (5:31.00), while the 4×100 (Reel, Lentsch, Libby Augustine and McCarville, 54.79) and the sprint medley (Augustine, McCarville, Lentsch and Reel, 2:06.08) were both fourth.

“We didn’t bring home a whole lot of hardware, but we had some improvements, which was good to see,” said Gael head coach Donn Larson. “We’re inching the right way, and that’s all I can ask for.”

Next action for St. Edmond is Monday at the Cadet Relays. Start time is set for 5 p.m. in Iowa Falls.
