MANSON – Carl H. Hoefing, 90, died at Good Samaritan Society in Manson on Wed. Apr. 24, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm on Sat. Apr. 27 at St. John Lutheran Church, Lizard Twp. Visitation will be today from 4 until 7pm at Larson-Weishaar Funeral Home in Manson. Burial will be in Lizard Township Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Marge; his sons Steven (Linda) Hoefing of Shenandoah, IA, and their children Jonathan (Jordan) and Jennifer; and Merle (Sally) Hoefing and their children Cameron and Natalie. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers John and Henry; and sisters Elsena Niemand and Dorothy Martens.

Carl Harris Hoefing was born on the family farm northeast of Manson on Aug. 15, 1922, the son of Henry and Minnie (Janssen) Hoefing. He attended country school in that area, returning to the family farm, which he eventually began operating on his own. He married Marjorie Schofield on June 2, 1946, at Knoke, IA. Together they operated the family farm, with Carl having planted 67 consecutive crop years. Carl based his life on the philosophy of “Faith, Family, Friends, and Farming”.
