AUBURN – Beth Vanderheiden died Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Carroll Health Center in Carroll, Iowa. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at the Lake City Union Church with Rev. Betty Wiedert and Father Lynn Bruch officiating. Burial will be in Cory Grove Cemetery in Sac City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Beth F. Vanderheiden was born on January 14, 1924 in Sac City to John and Mabel (Haas) Dew. She graduated from Sac City High School and later from Nursing school. Beth was married to Eugene Cross who later died in 1984. On May 21, 1988 she married Richard Vanderheiden at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Auburn. Beth worked as a nurse at New Hope Village for 20 years and St. Anthony’s for 5 years before retiring in 2005. She was a member of the Lake City Union Church and enjoyed cooking, dancing and loved to travel.
Beth is survived by her husband Richard of Auburn, son Ken (Maria) Cross of Lancaster, CA, daughters Jeanne (Jim) Geiger of Wrightsville Beach, NC and JoAnne Miller of Evanston, WY, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and brother Larry (Sharon) Dew of Papillion, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Mabel Dew, husband Eugene Cross, daughter Sandi Cross, son Kevin Cross, and brothers Earl and Dale Dew.
