Newspaper adds new Android app

For generations The Messenger has provided a comprehensive daily report of happenings in north central Iowa. In October 2012, The Messenger launched an Apple OS application and, now the Android application is available.

The app joins the printed newspaper and “”> as ways readers can get their news. All three are unique products, providing both news and special features that are unique to the media.

Content to the main site, the mobile site, located at, and to the new app is updated daily. The Android app also notifies you when breaking news has been posted.

Visiting The Messenger website with any device running the Android system will trigger a screen urging readers to download the app. Visitors also can search for “The Messenger” in the Google play store. In addition, they can visit and be redirected to the correct site. With the app, readers can read stories, write comments, search and take polls. You are also able to see the current garage sale listings and map directions to them with the “Map It” feature.

“We are please to extend the reach of our award-winning and trusted newspaper to our readers who have long depended on us to let them know what is happening in their community, said Publisher Larry D. Bushman. “The addition of the Android app gives us yet another way to serve our readers.”
