WATERLOO – Dale Doughty, 64 of Waterloo passed away Thurs. April 18th at the University of Iowa hospital in Iowa City where he had been a patient since March 16th. Dale was born March 18th 1949 in Fort Dodge. He attended Fort Dodge schools. In 1967 he joined the Navy. After his honorable discharge he worked for the Illinois Central Railroad presently the Canadian National at many locations in Iowa and Illinois. His many hobbies include hunting, fishing, searching for mushrooms in the spring, spending time with family and rooting for the Cubs. He loved the out doors and lived on the bank of the Cedar River in Waterloo until 2008 when his home was destroyed by the devastating flood. He remained in Waterloo until the time of his passing.

Dale is survived by his wife Mary Chapman Doughty, Waterloo, son Curt Doughty, Fort Dodge and son Chad Doughty, Chicago, Il. Mother and Father Cleo & Dolores Doughty Fort Dodge. Sister Kathy Doughty, Cedar Falls, Brother Dave Doughty (& fiancee Stephanie, Fort Dodge and 3 grandchildren, Curtis Jr., Tanner, Mason, Fort Dodge and his longtime companion Ernie, his black lab.

Dale was preceded in death by his son Brian Doughty and grandparents.

A memorial to celebrate Dale’s life will be held at a later date in Waterloo.
