Further study should occur
It may seem to some Americans that new revelations of what the “Affordable Care Act” – the national health care takeover law – will cost have become a regular feature of news reports. Most recently, a study indicated the law will force millions of Americans to pay more for their health insurance.
President Barack Obama many members of Congress say the law is here to stay, however. Even modifying it substantially will not be tolerated, they vow.
Shouldn’t we at least have a more accurate picture of what this health care program will cost us as consumers and as taxpayers at the local, state and federal levels? To our knowledge, no comprehensive, honest estimate of those costs has been compiled, despite literally scores of bits-and-pieces warnings.
Congress should commission such a study – and insist it be based on reality, not the White House’s promises.
