Extension sponsors program Saturday
An Iowa State University professor will present a pruning and drought management viticulture program from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the ISU Extension and Outreach office.
Paul Domoto is a professor and Extension fruit specialist at ISU’s horticulture department.
Domoto plans to cover the concept of balanced pruning and how it applies to various grape varieties and training systems, and how to compensate for winter injury of the buds when pruning. He will also address the potential impact of the drought and winter conditions on grapes and other fruits, and measures that can be taken if the drought continues during the 2013 growing season.
Preregistration is required; cost of the program is $10. Registration and check in will begin at 8:30 a.m.
To register contact Webster County Extension at 576-2119.
