Accountants release audit on FD city finances
An audit of the city of Fort Dodge finances for the 2011-2012 fiscal year has been completed by Cornwell, Frideres Maher & Associates PLC, of Fort Dodge.
The accounting firm reported that the city’s revenues were $39,247,212 for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2012. That was a 1.2 percent increase from the previous fiscal year.
The revenues included:
$15,183,849 from charges for services
$12,435,533 from property taxes
$3,303,332 from the local option sales tax
$3,007,785 from operating grants, contributions and restricted interest
$2,375,267 from capital grants, contributions and restricted interest
$1,396,651 from other general receipts
$1,189,531 from tax increment financing collections
$355,264 from unrestricted interest on investments
Expenses for the year totaled $35,150,588, which the accounting firm described as a less than 1 percent decrease from the previous fiscal year.
The expenditures included:
$10,176,998 for business type activities
$7,511,946 for public safety
$5,424,886 for public works
$4,533,398 for community and economic development
$4,249,918 for culture and recreation
