FD council to handle road projects Monday
Road projects are on the agenda for the Fort Dodge City Council when it meets Monday.
The council is scheduled to award contracts for two major projects and buy some needed real estate for a third one.
The council meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Monday in the Municipal Building, 819 First Ave. S.
One of the projects for which a contract is to be awarded is the reconstruction of North 23rd Street between 10th Avenue North and Elmhurst Avenue. Wicks Construction, of Decorah, submitted the apparent low bid of $288,711.60.
The other contract expected to be awarded Monday is for the reconstruction of Avenue C between D and G streets. Godbersen-Smith Construction, of Ida Grove, submitted the apparent low bid of $494,633.30.
Also on Monday, the council is expected to buy about $200,000 worth of real estate from three owners to make room for the eventual realignment of the intersection of 10th Avenue North and 16th Street.
Other items on the agenda include the discussion of property tax incentives to spur housing construction, and the expansion of an existing enterprise zone to include Phillips Middle School, 1015 Fifth Ave. N. Housing developments within the enterprise zone are eligible for state tax incentives.
Following the regular business meeting, the council will hold four workshops. One will be devoted to new signs showing the way to trails and other recreational features. Money from the Iowa Great Places program will help to pay for the signs.
The other workshops will be about police cars, engineering projects and an online auction survey.
