Laurens-Marathon principal resigns
LAURENS – Few details have emerged regarding the mid-year resignation of a Laurens-Marathon school district administrator.
The district’s board of directors accepted the resignation of JoAnne Morenz, the school’s pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade principal, on Feb. 25.
Laurens-Marathon Superintendent Iner Joelson said he couldn’t comment on specifics regarding her departure, saying it’s a personnel matter.
“In her absence we are utilizing our deans of students, who are working with me to run the school,” he said. “We’re in the process of trying to figure out if we’re going to put one of them into an interim principalship.”
Joelson said a recommendation will eventually be put to the school’s board of directors.
“I hope to know within the next week or two where we’ll be,” he said. “We’re trying to work this out as we go.”
Morenz had been with the district since July 2012.
Attempts to contact Board President Mike Olson and Vice President Matt Tate were unsuccessful as of press time Tuesday.
