YETTER – Warren Holm, 91, died Friday, March 8, 2013 at Stewart Memorial Commun-ity Hospital in Lake City. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tues-day at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City with Rev. Betty Weidert officiating and burial in the Lake City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City.

Warren Arthur Holm was born on the family farm north of Yetter, Iowa on December 27, 1921 to Arthur S. Holm and Lela Clark. Warren attended Wildcat Country school and helped his folks on the farm. He grew up during the Great Depression and was known for his marksmanship. He was a hunter and provided wild game to supplement the family food supply. He was an avid fisherman who shared the bounty of his many successful catches with many members of the family and community. Warren served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during WWII aboard the aircraft carrier The U.S.S. Bunker Hill.

On August 17, 1946, Warren married Evelene Tannehill and they began farming on the Holm family farm where he was born. Warren and Evelene had six children: Mary Copp of Parker, Colorado; Michael Holm of Yetter; Tony Holm of Austin, Texas; Annette Lange of Rockwell City; Eric Holm of Caspar, Wyoming and Elaine Aden of Carroll. Warren also had 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

In December 1986, Warren retired from his Production Manager position at Bowie Manufacturing where he worked for 25 years.

Warren loved his family and he loved life, he was an avid fisherman after he retired and stayed closely connected to the land on his acreage in Yetter where he gardened and shared his produce with family and friends. Warren served his community when elected as mayor and councilman of Yetter. He also maintained the town water system and park.

Warren always maintained a positive outlook and spoke about the many good people in life who make it worth living.

Warren encouraged people to overcome adversity and gave them hope he left a smile on the faces of many he met and encouragement in their hearts. He was a lover of life, family and his fellow man.

Warren is survived by his children,brothers Duane Holm of Lufkin, Texas and Victor Holm of Lake City, and sisters Carmen Allen of Phoenix Arizona and Glenda Ibach of Des Moines, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Evelene, brother Forrest Allen, sister Donna Walters, and grandson, Leslie Holm.
