FARNHAMVILLE – Gary L. Bendickson, 77, of Marshall-town and formerly of Farnham-ville passed away Friday, March 8, 2013 at the Iowa Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown.

A funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Farnhamville, with Rev. Robert Zellmer officiating. Burial will follow at Reading Township Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the Farnhamville American Legion Post 510. A visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 P.M. at the Palmer and Swank Funeral Home in Gowrie. Gary is survived by his wife, Emily (Thul); children, Sheri (Brent) Monson of Farnhamville; Brad (Kim) Bendickson of Grand Junction; step-son, Jason Allard of Manson; grandchildren, Cory Turner of Des Moines; Alicia (Josh) Carmondy of Fort Dodge; Ashley, David, and Jacob Bendickson of Grand Junction;great grandchildren, Madison and Austin Carmondy; Nathan and Josiah Randleman; step-granddaughter,Brenna Allard of Manson; sisters, Marlene (Neal) Schoepke of Indianola; Judy (Kenton) Hotze of Fort Calhoun, NE and Jane (Melvin) Mullen Grand River.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Laura (Burger) Bendickson.

Gary Lee Bendickson was born December 6, 1935 in Carroll. He was raised and educated in Farnhamville. In 1954 he graduated from Farnhamville High School. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Army until 1956. As a life-long resident of Farnhamville, Gary owned and operated his own mechanic and body shop. He also ran a tree service business. He served on the Farnhamville City Council, was a member of the Lion’s Club, a Cub Scout Leader, and a member of New Covenant Christian Church in Fort Dodge. In 2005 Gary moved into the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
