Authorities say Crawford violated parole

A man charged with attempted murder in connection with an assault on his ex-wife was in court Friday on charges that he violated his parole.

Larry D. Crawford, 43, 339 Loomis Ave., was on parole for domestic assault second offense and operating while intoxicated third offense.

Crawford was ordered held without bond until a hearing can be scheduled in front of the parole board.

He was already being held in the Webster County Jail on an attempted murder charge for allegedly assaulting Jolene Crawford, 39, March 2.

Police found her unconscious in her bedroom at 339 Loomis Ave. around 6:30 a.m.

She was taken to Trinity Regional Medical Center and treated for a head injury before being flown to a Des Moines area hospital in critical condition.

As of Friday afternoon, Crawford’s condition was unchanged.

Iowa Courts Online records indicate Larry Crawford was sentenced to two years in prison on his domestic assault charge after pleading guilty in 2010, but was later put on probation. A no-contact order was issued between him and Jolene Crawford at that time, which was scheduled to last five years.

That no-contact order was lifted on Nov. 29, 2012.

Crawford’s preliminary hearing on the attempted murder charge is set for Thursday.
