Triton softball squad rolls

HARRISON, Ark. – The Iowa Central softball team stayed unbeaten in the early season, posting convincing 12-2 and 12-3 victories over North Arkansas Monday afternoon.

In game one, the Tritons (4-0 overall) received three hits from Sammie Hildreth and two apiece by Chelsy Krantz (Fort Dodge), Katie Newbury and Kelsey Penneau. Mackenzie Siefken (Algona) also homered.

Picking up the win in the circle was Josie Brackey (2-0), who scattered two hits with six strikeouts.

Jess Frahm (Prairie Valley) went a perfect 4-for-4 in the nightcap for Iowa Central, while Nicole Dobernecker chipped in three hits and Haley Rustvold (Fort Dodge) and Alexis Hernandez each had a pair.

After surrendering three hits and three runs in the bottom of the first, Siefken (1-0) never allowed another baserunner the rest of the way. She walked none and fanned eight.

“We wanted to score every inning and were real aggressive offensively,” said ICCC head coach Josh Sandin.

Next action for the Tritons is Friday at Dakota County. First pitch is 10 a.m. in Rosemount, Minn.
