MANSON – A benefit for Connie Peters will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 10 at the Manson High School. A freewill donation will be taken to help defray medical bills following a biking accident.
A brunch of pancakes, eggs, sausage, pastries, coffee and juice will be served. There will be a silent auction, and a 32-inch television and iPad Mini will be among the items. A live auction will begin at 1:30 p.m.
Peters was hit by a truck while riding her bike south of Manson with her son, Riley, on Sept. 2, 2012. Peters was in critical care for a month at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, and then spent another month in recovery before her release in mid-November. Her C6 and C7 vertebrae were broken both in front and back, hemorrhaging occurred on the base of her brain stem and brain, and her right arm was broken just below the shoulder. She attends outpatient therapy twice a week.
